On August 22, 2017, the USAID-supported global Health Finance and Governance (HFG) project and the Partnerships for Affordable Health Access and Longevity (PAHAL) project convened a consultation meeting in New Delhi to discuss health insurance options for the urban poor in India. The meeting provided key stakeholders—public and private insurance companies, service providers, network aggregators, and health financing experts—a forum to jointly deliberate on the issues and opportunities for providing health insurance to India’s large population of low-income urban households. Altogether more than 50 stakeholders came together to discuss the country’s insurance landscape and exchange experiences and ideas on designing innovative health insurance mechanisms. The following report provides a summary of this meeting:
