The Lesotho Health Systems Assessment was conducted by Health Systems 20/20 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Irish Aid, and the USAID-funded Southern African Human Capacity Development Coalition and the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems Program (Lesotho). The assessment included the collection of data from 73 health facilities, an extensive literature review (both grey and published), and the conducting of key informant interviews at national and district levels.

The Health Systems Assessment approach provides a framework for undertaking a rapid yet comprehensive assessment of a national health system. The approach assesses the six components of a health system, namely health governance, health financing, health service delivery, human resources for health, pharmaceutical management, and health information systems.
